Fun Children-Approved Recipe

I wanted to share this fun "children chef" recipe with you. Fruity
Sushi looks like real Sushi, but with a sweet and exciting twist!
Making these mini masterpieces is a good way to spend some quality
time with your kids, while encouraging creativity and kitchen skills.

INGREDIENTS:

*	6 cups rice cereal
*	4 cups miniature marshmallows
*	4 tbsp butter
*	2 boxes of FruitaBü Fruit Rolls
*	A variety of candy: cherry twists (such as Twizzlers), gummy
            worms, licorice and Swedish fish

DIRECTIONS

1.In a small saucepan, melt the marshmallows with the butter over
low heat. Add the rice cereal and stir to coat. Pour the mixture
into a greased pan while it's still warm and cut the treats into
small rectangles. Create different rolls, nigiri, or sushi using
the candy pieces, and wrap each piece with FruitaBü Fruit Rolls for
the effect of seaweed. Arrange on a plate with a bit of green
frosting for wasabi and pieces of candied ginger for a real looking
presentation!

FruitaBü Fruit Rolls are a kid-tested, kid-approved snack that
satisfies the sweet tooth without hurting the tummy. Made of real
fruit, each all-natural roll offers an entire serving of fruit,
without the artificial sweeteners. Plus, kids will enjoy unraveling
the colorful fruit flavors in Apple, Strawberry, and Grape!

We All Scream for Ice Cream

August 12th, 2011 by Miranda

Healthy Steps by Jokari knows what's on the dessert menu, whether
store-bought or homemade. But with 68 percent of Americans overweight,
is it possible to enjoy without the guilt? Yes, it is. Portion control
-- even with ice cream -- is the key to effectively managing and
maintaining a healthy weight.

Ice cream is often overindulged, and unchecked portions can destroy
even the best diet routines. Use the Healthy Steps Portion Control
Ice Cream Scoop to have your ice cream and eat it too. Simply scoop
and dispense for a perfect portion of your favorite ice cream or
frozen yogurt. In addition, lose the guilt, the milk in ice cream
products provides vital nutrients for overall health including
calcium, potassium, vitamin D, and protein.

Healthy Steps suggests these recipes for a delicious homemade ice
cream and an easy freezy (and surprising) smoothie. A nice tall glass
of cool, creamy goodness will also make you forget about the super
hot weather outside.

 Avocado Smoothie

This drink has to be tasted to be believed. Not only is it rich and
creamy -- and our tasters loved the flavor -- but it's also a good
source of vitamins, fiber, potassium and good-for-you fats. Did you
know? Avocados are commonly used in drinks and desserts -- including
ice cream! -- throughout Asia and South America. Avocado Pro by
Healthy Steps opens, pits, slices, scoops, and mashes all with one
tool. You can speed up prep time in your kitchen and save valuable
storage space with the multifunctional tool. This feature-packed
avocado tool cuts open avocados, pits, slices them into bite-size
pieces, scoops out the healthy avocado meat and contains a masher to
make homemade fresh guacamole. This is one tool no kitchen should be
without.

1 avocado, peeled and pitted (try the Avocado Pro by Healthy Steps)

 1 cup milk

 1 cup ice cubes

 2 tablespoons sugar

 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth.
Makes 3 servings.

control. Each stylish utensil provides the perfect measure of ingredients
for cooking.

Homemade Convenience Foods: Review & Giveaway

August 1st, 2011 by Miranda

Research shows that the average woman has spent 50,000 hours in her kitchen by the age of 45!

Not interested in being the “average” woman in that statistic? I wasn’t either, so I developed a system that allows me to have homemade, nutritious food on the table in 15 minutes or less.

I call it Homemade Convenience Foods. It saves both time and money and works with my sample recipes as well as your own favorites.

Homemade Convenience Foods is not once-a-month cooking or frozen pizzas or carry-out Chinese, but a simple method that even never-cooked-much-before college kids and newlyweds can easily learn to implement.

The Homemade Convenience Foods system is perfect for busy homeschool moms, those who work away from home, and empty-nesters who need motivation to cook for just one or two.

Homemade Convenience Foods even teaches you how to avoid those last-minute grocery runs that cost you so much time and money. With this system, you will always have the ingredients on hand to prepare at least two dozen different menus. Even drop-in company won’t faze you.

When Marcia sent me a copy of “Homemade Convenience Foods”, I was so excited! I do the majority of the cooking for our family of eight. I like to cook from scratch so “homemade” & “convenience” are two great words to put in one sentence–in a positive way!

I’ve really enjoyed reading thro’ the ebook (It’s also available in bound form). It is full of great advice & recipes. This is not the typical “save time in the kitchen book.” It’s new & refreshing & simple. I would recommend it to all cooks. Would you like your own?
